Even if you change your flight now to one with F, your flight is actually not until October, and there are ample opportunities for KA to switch equipment on you again prior to the flight date.
sorry for my lack of clarity. i was wondering if i should just try to get an earlier flight since a) won't be getting F anyway, and b) can't use the cabanas.

KA currently only has 6 airplanes with F and these six planes are flying between PEK and PVG only. The chance to get on F is there but since you are not flying until October, it is very hard to check it now.
Checking April's schedule, there will be 3 flights each day with F
KA804 1055-1330
KA808 1655-1930
KA894 1900-2125
Since your schedule seems to be flexible and you are arriving Hong Kong early at 7 am (before all PVG flights depart), I would suggest go to the transfer counter upon arrival and ask for which flight with F and ask them to put you on that flight, that's if you are not already on those flights. With your ticket being F, I don't think there will be any problem.

unless i'm doing something wrong, the tail numbers on the first and third lines above are Xiamen Airlines aircraft. the KA 3XX aircraft have no first.
we don't want to wait even longer than the first KA flight that's supposed to have F (KA804 departing at 10:55). four hours is already pretty long in an airport, lounge or not. as i mentioned above, my thoughts about trying to get an earlier flight was not in an attempt to get F but instead to lessen the amount of time spent at HKIA.
another strange thing is that you mention PEK-PVG flights by KA. I looked at KA's online schedule to try and book a flight on that route and thought that i found that they didn't do it. i only got PGV-HKG-PEK routing. Just checked again and still see no direct flights. Again, am i being daft?
