I've dramatically increased the ratio of new properties to repeat properties (i.e. properties I've visited in the recent past) over the last 1.5-2yrs of my travels. Consequently I've noted a huge increase in the number of times I have to push or bargain to get lounge access. I think a lot of properties, particularly those offering free booze, try to avoid giving lounge access unless you ask for it in the hopes you'll just assume you aren't entitled to access.

Some properties instantly fold and give me access. Some blame the computer system or key card system. Some take a stand and magically resolve the "misunderstanding" on the last day of your stay.
