And not all positive space passengers are non-removable for revenue passengers - it differs by airline/pass classification. Some PS travel is non-removable (meaning you can't be denied boarding), other PS passes are subject to removal for revenue passengers (thus they will revenue manage around your booking, but if it's oversold in the end you're coming off).

All "positive space" means is that you have a confirmed booking as employee rather than a NRSA listing. And you're spot-on - commuters are NRSA, not deadheading.
