That's exactly what I was saying; you've hit the nail right on the head. The only part I'd modify is that the NW merger had nothing to do with it, rather the former-NW-now-DL hub never got weaker (only stronger) post mega-alliance, but it was rendered somewhat obsolete by the new business structure. However I think we're getting at the same point which is that you don't need your own metal somewhere in order to have a meaningful presence in the sense of revenue related to transportation to/from said "somewhere".
