In my opinion, do not bother with the La Jolla property.
I would choose the Marina property over the Sheraton Suites purely based on location. Symphony Hall is in the midst of the city. Sheraton Marina faces the harbor so has a pretty view. It's also much easier to take a car in and out there.
(I've not stayed in a one of these properties so take my comments as being geographic-centric.)
- In two weeks would have the second trip to San Diego this month (luckily on business and without children). I have stayed at all these hotels in the past but not at Carlsbad. Sheraton Suites is a bit outside the downtown, although still walkable, but the rooms are suites with more room for kids. Sheraton Marina is literally across the road from the airport. Room are what you expect form an older Sheraton building (i.e., somewhat on smaller side) but there is a view of marina and a swimming pool. There is nothing around Sheraton Marina and you would have to take a taxi to downtown (about $12-14). I had never upgraded in Sheraton Marina to a suite.
Actually, I would prefer even more remote La Jolla Sheraton over the other two properties: rooms are reasonably large, nice landscaping, there is an internal yard with a swimming pool, easy access to highway to drive anywhere.
