I am not trying to get anyone in trouble here, just was curious about the fact that I have tried on at least 10 of these flights to upgrade online, was told no availability, then onboard there are plenty of seats. In the instance I refer to, there were even empty seats in J after I moved up. I didn't search like ft101, just based my OP on my flight experiences. I'd buy biz but it is my company that sources the tickets so I need to use the upgrade option.

But yes, if you have a star from the first Dubai Do it is worth carrying it around -- I would never wear it, but as a reference it works well and having it along backs up the story. They are generally fascinated that a non-Emirates employee went to the aviation college, etc., even for a day.
