We actually picked up a fully loaded 2012 Lacrosse at SFO and I would say that it's probably a car you wouldn't want in SF given all the quick descents and ascents, winding roads, and visibility issues.

During ascents, I found it really hard to see out the window and was weary that I would run over, hit, or bump into someone or something. Descents aren't as bad, but there were times I thought the front bumper would scrape.

The winding roads were really what drove me and the wife nuts. The car was so wobbly, probably because of the "luxury feel", that it felt like a boat. We actually felt quite sick from going through those roads even at 30-50mph. This might not be an issue for some folks; it was our first time driving in SF Bay area.

The A/B pillars are actually quite large. Visibility of the crosswalks were difficult, and I would have to dart around to make sure there was no one walking. Also, it was hard to see the blind spots because of the large B-pillar. Luckily, it had blind spot warning indicators, which were helpful when I remember that I had them.

Other than that, it was the most luxurious car I've ever rented. It had a panoramic moonroof, rear power sunshade, navigation, and adaptive bi-xenons. While I would probably not choose it again for SF (Nissan Maxima was an alternative, but it was less equipped), it would be a great vehicle for Chicago. I should also say that I picked it up through Exec Selection.
