Ailing! While the BAY (and now) IAG share price is, well, stagnant to put it kindly, the airline itself isn't so ailing - it's trying to make the right steps: the hard product is still being upgraded across the board, premium class bookings are up, and terminal five is still a shining example above the competition.
Comparisons, while natural, are hard on BA, because of how it serves both Asia and North America so closely - being compared to Asian airlines is very difficult for BA - Singapore and Cathay have superior products, however BA trumps the NA products so easily, but without trying that hard. Serving both markets could lead down weird roads, but it seems (from my limited experience) that BA is going down a decent path, particularly recently, by upping the service part of the product.
Still, if you're flying from Britain regularly, there's really not much competition.
