Am I the only person that doesn't think LGW is up to much then?
I do LON-AMS (from any of LCY, LGW or LHR, depending on availability etc) quite frequently (at least monthly, usually bi-weekly), and these days I'll try and do as much as I can to avoid LGW. Every time I've tried 'Premium Security' it has taken 15-20 minutes to get through at best (never waited more than 5 minutes at Fast Track in T5, microseconds at LCY!) and all of the security staff are surly and rude. The decrepit 737s are hateful things and the lounge is a throwback from the 1980s and an unfortunate place to spend an hour or more. The baggage conveyors keep breaking down and throwing the whole airport into disarray (just this Saturday for a recent example!).
That sounds incredibly harsh - and I suppose it is - and I do agree that the management at Gatwick are, slowly-but-surely, turning things around, but I just don't get on with the place at all.
If only we could move LGW's shorthaul services to LCY!
