A few questions, as a matter of passing interest, from a OneWorld flyer that's getting frustrated with limited award availability to S. Africa:
1) Could one use the SA-operated GRU-JNB flight as part of a N.America to Africa Award? Or must the the transit continent be in Europe?
2) For that matter, could one use the SA-operated BOM-JNB or HKG-JNB flights in the same way?
3) Is there a table that outlines which continents can be used as transit points? Or are there no limits in this regard?
4) Under what conditions do certain transit points trigger higher mileage requirements?
