You're right - not worth it to go to DMK if you're not in town. I forgot the OP wasn't stopping over. And wrong - the flooding issue was because of too much water behind the dams in N Thailand after an extra long wet monsoon. The bureaucrats should have been venting it earlier. After their screwup, they basically sacrificed the 'burbs' to save central Bangkok. DMK doesn't really have a flooding problem. wj
While that is true, DMK did have flooding problems because there flood gate controls were less advanced then BKK.
