Was just here for a five-night award stay and had a pretty good experience.

I got no upgrade (but then I requested none, since I wanted a room on the back of the hotel and away from 6th Avenue.) Said room turned out to be small (always the case in NYC) but comfortable. The bed was way way comfy - really like the Sleep Number system. Also very quiet, amazing for the city.

The location was great for my needs - flew into Newark, took NJ Transit into Penn Station, then the A/C/E to the hotel. The subway is literally in front of the hotel and that line is great for Central Park, the Met, etc. On the way back, took a cab back out to Newark - door to door it was maybe 30 minutes (but this was on a Saturday morning).

Really liked the restaurant, the staff was great - the breakfast staff in particular was really outstanding, which I'll probably put on Tripadvisor so the manager will see it. The place was only a block or two from a couple of great art supply stores.

The only downside was the small size of the room made it a bit stuffy at times. Had to keep getting up during the night to fool with the HVAC. Luckily had brought along a small fan so it was tolerable.

I'd likely stay here again.
