I agree with your comment that she did nothing wrong by answering your question. She probably did not help herself any by telling you but - sometimes when emotions are high things like this happen.

And I must say that she did the right thing by switching where she was working to avoid more issues. Hopefully she reports what happened and things like this don't go on in the future.
