Set your expectations realistically for Egypt: there tends to be no such thing as a room renovated in the last 3-4 years, just built.

That said the Club room I stayed in was perfectly pleasant. While I could see it was a bit frayed at the edges, I couldn't fault the cleanliness of it or the comfort of the bed, which gave me a really deep night's sleep.

The Club was perfectly pleasant too - and it's not dry. The waiters were the real difference - great and very gentle.
