How many times have you used miles for business?

A discussion on a different thread on why AC/AP never seems to have award seats for the masses has puzzled me.

Am I the only one out there who wouldn't even begin to think of using my hard earned miles to save my company money on business dictated travel?

I feel the miles are mine, not my employer's. They are a perq earned for my many hours away from my family, eating bad food, and working long hours. My employer agrees with me on this, and has a specific policy in place saying that I'm not allowed to be reimbursed for the value of miles if I were to choose to use them for a flight.

Am I alone in this line of thinking?

Is AC/AP right, and are scads of people cashing in miles to avoid high last minute airfares?

Has anyone cashed in miles to save their employer an expensvie airfare on a trip?

Do SE's (Did E's) regularly convert revenue seats to award seats to save their employers money on last minute trips?
