RiceChex: I think you should be considering yourself lucky to be out $2000 or so to avoid being in Belize right now. My wife and I were in the Cayman Islands when Mitch passed no closer than about 180 miles last weekend (it's now parked off the coast of Blize, a lot closer than that). We didn't see a lot of wind, but the tides, surf and rain were something else. Water that was as smooth as glass on Wednesday and Thursday was like the north coast of Oahu by Sunday. And Jamaica, which was actually farther from the eye, apparently fared even worse than we did.
