If you are able to take the A/C Line to the Jay Street subway stop and exit at Myrtle Promenade (the stop by the TKTS booth), the walk to the hotel is mostly through a well-lit modern office park complex (Metrotech). I think there is an exit at the Jay Street stop that puts you even closer to the hotel on Willoughby Street, but the immediate sourroundings are a little more sketchy (although it would most likely be fine with a group of 2 or more).
