Take back my earlier comment. A colleague ran into exactly the same problem whilst trying to pay for taxes on a online redemption booking (no call centre intervention - it was a straight CX redemption for one). Error message, no email, no booking in MMB, no miles drawdown but credit card co said amount has been drawn down.

After re-reading this thread I advised my colleague to try again and the redemption worked. We are waiting for the first drawdown to be released.
