Well, it doesn't look like I will be going to Belize after all. Hurricane Mitch is set to smash into the coast of Belize in 36 to 48 hours. Apparently, the island of Roatan, in Honduras is severely damaged. Very sad, Roatan is/was a tropical paradise.
Word up on trip insurance. After hearing about the hurricane this morning on the Today Show, I called my travel agent, and called to get trip insurance. No such luck, as the hurricane is a pre-existing condition.
As far as the trip, I most likely will be able to go again within a year. If the rates are higher I will have to pay the difference. If everything is destroyed, then myself and travelling companion are out $2000 collectively. I now recommend travel insurance.
