Depends on the value you personally assign to reduced risk of somebody next to you, slight increase in recline and pitch that may help you sleep, and how many Woodfords you could enjoy during the flight that you would otherwise have to settle for free beer/wine. There is no one-size-fits-all answer.
If you're small in stature, don't care if there's somebody next to you, sleep well from takeoff to touchdown without the use of alcohol, then it may not be worth $2 to you. I fail to qualify on any of those criteria, so I tend to buy up.
