I would never do any Y redemptions and I wouldn't encourage anyone to do it. The difference between Y and J is not much in miles but worlds apart if paid in cash.

In fact, sometimes F is not that much more either and you should try if you have spare miles but beware, you will get hooked forever.

I just went to brazil and am also planning a future one so I did some research. That's why I could tell you what I wrote in previous post. Anyway, it is not difficult. And you should study the new redemption charts first and see what is most suitable.
