What are AC's rules on Bereavement Fares?

My wife, an AP Basic/UA Basic member, has a grandmother who has just had a massive stroke. The prognosis probably doesn't look good and my wife may have to fly from YVR to Windsor (YQG) to be with her mother, or possibly even worse, to attend a funeral within the next few days.

What are Air Canada's rules on this? Is there any break on full fare? What are the guidelines with regard to level of relationship (i.e. grandparents or parents only)? Does my status (AC Elite) help any?

Any feedback or information gratefully accepted. Thanks.
