If the owner of the hotel owns several brands of hotels, they probably negotiated a deal with the coffee vendor. That would be my opinion on how the HGI coffee standard is dealt with
HGI at Niagara-on-the Lake, Ontario, had Higgins & Burke packets of coffee in their rooms. We found them better then the coffees we've had at Hiltons, Hilton Suites and the Hamptons we've stayed at recently. Recent stay at the HGI Fort Lauderdale Airport/Cruiseport last month had the Lavazza coffee. Also we've discovered that those little cups of coffee creamers at all the properties (not only Hilton props) tend to ruin what might be at least an almost decent (for hotel coffeemakers anyway) cup of coffee. Now when we travel we bring or buy some milk or condensed milk to put in the hotel room coffees. Makes them much more drinkable. To prove my point...my wife makes an enjoyable cup of coffee for me at home, and I had decided to try two of those creamers from the hotels in one of her brews....couldn't drink it then! And I noticed in one hotel (Fallsview Casino Resort, also with the Keurig coffee makers and cups) that has three of those little coffee creamer cups in a small cardboard container along with sugars and stirrers) that on the container is a date stamp with dates as far back as 2006, so there must be some type of preservative in them that possibly ruins the coffee taste, at least for us.
