Second time lucky - got through Security North today using the same strategy of opening the bag out, sticking the iPad on the lid and then putting it on a tray. No problem. The queues were significantly longer today, and there was a pleasant young lady apologising profusely about the delays. She then pointed out to the passenger two behind me that they were doing training and that was some of the reason why the queues were a little slower. The passenger then started on a mini-rant about the fact that they shouldn't do this at this time of day, this queue, blah blah blah - all that was missing was the DYKWIA. She was even replete with the bug eyed sunglasses - wearing them indoors of course...

She then exhibited behaviour that I have never seen at T5 security. There are normally two "lanes" at each security machine where people can unload their stuff into the trays, with a tensabarrier in between. I was called through to the one on the right, and the lady behind me to the one on the left. All of a sudden Ms DYKWIA walked up to the machine and extracted a tray from underneath the lady adjacent's area. What she thought she was doing I have no idea. The guy behind the machine eventually had to shout at her and tell her to step back. Bizarre. The lady next to me gave her a bit of a mouthful, but I think it was water off a duck's back. I suspect that Ms DYKWIA might have been flying West...
