Just this year, I turned to be 1K & I wanted to post this just to get a feel of what FTers think. I don't think I will be complaining based on the response from this thread. Let the GA do whatever they want, I learnt my lesson, that's important for me. I will be careful hereafter.
Please do write to 1K Voice or United customer service or send a PM to UAInsider (i.e. send a personal message to the company rep on these forums, whose FlyerTalk username is UAInsider). GA's should not treat people like this, even if they are having a bad day and even if the customer isn't perfectly sweet.
You should bear in mind that UAInsider is VERY busy with other things right now so she may not be able to deal with this right away but this is the type of behavior (arbitrarily changing the rules for upgrades) that Scott (the previous company rep) was very interested in dealing with.
And don't be discouraged that some people don't believe you, but realize that there are two sides to every story and that what you said might not have been received the way you intended it to be received.
Finally, let us know what happens.
