Given how the government reacted to the grad student who created a fake boarding pass generator, I'm waiting to hear that this guy's house has been raided, his computers confiscated, and/or that he's been arrested.
TSA considers "testing" security measures to be an offense (no idea if it's a crime or one of their kangaroo-court-civil-fines). Passengers in the past have been arrested for testing TSA using actual prohibited items, but I don't know of any arrests for tests using non-prohibited items. But this guy pretty much admitted on video to intentionally testing TSA instead of hedging by saying, "accidentally forgot this metal object in a side pocket."
I hope he retained a good lawyer before posting this thing, and that he has distributed backups of any data that is of importance to him.
