Out of curiosity, if you're continuing to an AA flight from a QF flight will QF re-check your bags at TBIT, allow you to re-clear security there and then use the airside AA/QF shuttle between the terminals?
NO. The shuttle going T4 to TBIT starts working after
4PM and transfers pax only T4->TBIT (one direction)
The only way to get from TBIT to T4, ANYTIME, is walking.
[And BTW, for the evening T4->TBIT transfer, walking is FASTER than the shuttle because security lines at TBIT are moderate, max 10mins to clear security]
