As they point out, a metal detector could instantly detect such things. Using nude-o-scopes as primary scanners instead of metal detectors is dangerous! (And I'm not even talking about the cancer factor here)
I've joked that if the ALPA wanted to really raise a stink, they should strike and demand that every airline passenger go through a WTMD. As an ever-growing number of passengers are boarding planes after having gone through only the NoS (which _will not detect a gun_), there's a far higher chance of a passenger having a gun on board, which could be a disaster if a passenger got drunk and angry.
