YMMV; last time I had one (an expiring CR1) get stuck in limbo for 72+ hours, it took several calls to get it back in time to use it. In the end, the third CSR I spoke to made an infamous "one time exception" and granted me a new CR1 and applied it right away, since the old one wasn't likely to credit before it expired.
