Pre-Merger UA also didn't return upgrade instruments right away to the account.... It did used to work that way 2 years ago then about a year ago there was serious lag - even prior to ANY backend integration with CO.

Mileage Plus could always INSTANT re-deposit incorrect used instruments but a regular CSR pulling an instrument and swapping it yielded 1-3 days for it to be returned.
