(full disclosure: I did use those "dirt" from BA to redeem a JAL F award although I have more than enough JMB miles to redeem it

Just checked F award availbility for NRT-JFK and vv, using JMB miles. Between today + 4 and + 330, only one seat each way: 30 Aug NRT-JFK, and 23 Mar JFK-NRT.
Mrs. GaryD is JMB Diamond, I gather there is no way to check additional seats available to her due to status, other than calling. But calling doesn't seem to lead to any more seats available.
We're looking for F award seats for her mother in June, she has been on the waitlists for months. I persuaded her to leave the dark side a couple years ago, but now she is muttering about regrets. She thinks the F seats are being comped to Japanese big corp pax from C. Where else might they be going?
Eight seats per day, each way. How many full fare F pax? How many discounts through corp or T/A, perhaps 25%? How many upgrade points (ending from April 2013)? How many upgrade w miles (unavailable w discount C fares)?
Are they letting seats go empty, rather than releasing them for F awards?
