I fly LAX-PVG then switch to Cebu Pacific, though the connection times are very bad, especially in the reverse direction. With enough notice, Cebu Pacific flights are ridiculously inexpensive though, and flights to LAX-PVG tend to be fairly inexpensive as well, relative to PEK, and much cheaper than flying all the way to MNL.

I also find that Cebu Pacific will give long-legged Americans the exit row almost every time This is a far cry from taking CX, but it's a short flight.
