If you fly to PVG AFAIK there is no non stop OW service to MNL, so you'd need to connect in HKG or NRT/HND. And, if need be you'd need a Chinese visa. Why bother.

I'd fly to NRT on AA and then connect to JL.

Having said that, you do not specific what you mean by "best".
