We were on final approach into ABQ on a Southwest flight two weeks when we were diverted to Durango because a VIP was in the departure process from ABQ.

Turns out it was Joe Biden. He was in the area for a fundraising dinner.

We had the additional drama of some clown smoking in the lav and setting off the alarms as we were landing at Durango. He was offloaded by Durango's finest...I'm sure that was an interesting phone call back to his family. "You need us to bail you out of where?!?"

I realize this has nothing to do with LAX or AA but we're pretty OMNI already anyway...
