Flt. 1707 departed the gate on time (5:10 pm), but we were held on a taxiway for 9 minutes, per captains message, for a certain "vip" who was departing lax; the captain mentioned that holds for this particular vip were common--who is this person? [I checked various news web sites, and I find no mention of President Obama being in lax on 3/4/12].
