Are you talking about a dom or intl flt? Would help to know the route.
IMO, first thing I would do is look at flt options online. Find out what your Plan B might be now, given your situation. After finding alternatives, next stop would be calling DL and seeing about doing SDC, then give them the route you prefer. Obviously some routes may be fully booked (according to DL) so have some backup options as well.
