So I was @ MIA yesterday, for an AA connection from MIA – MCO, and faced with a lounge dilemma. Given the demise of the AA Flagship lounge, and not being a fan of the Admirals Club offerings there, I took
Airprox’s advice and wondered over to the E gates to find the BA/Iberia lounge (which is signed on maps around the terminal as being the “Premium Lounge”).
Anyway, we got there and the lounge was virtually empty and huge – but, what a weird place it is? I’ve never flown BA from MIA, so it was my first time there, but it just seemed a very odd space and not really anything like a traditional BA lounge. Certainly didn't seem to match a Terraces or Galleries concept.
The welcome from BA staff was great, and yes, there was a good selection of drinks – some weird looking sandwiches and some chocolate brownie pieces (which tasted great), but it just seemed an odd place made up of a weird collection of space. And at one end it had a big open bar with LCD screens above, but the bar seemed totally empty. Is it manned at peak times, or a feature from a previous occupant and no longer used?
So, a question to the MIA regulars - how long has this been the BA offering? And what do other FT'ers think of it?
Is it ever packed out at peaks times?
And is there a separate F lounge, or do both classes share the same space?
Nice to see it had a shower - wish more lounges did. Can be useful before an overnighter.
