It's definitely a smart promotion on the companies end. If I was a credit card company, I'd love to get new customers who spent $50,000 in 1 year on 1 credit card. Those are serious spenders, and potentially loyal spenders! So if they love the new product (Venture card), then you may have caught a whale.
That said, I wasn't able to get the 100k Match last year (too many recent inquiries), so I was hoping to this year. If they count the Amex PR Gold card, then I'll still hit the 100k miles, but if not, my other cards are lower.
Someone mentioned this earlier, but if you can get both the personal and business version, submit the same year end summary, and inquiries merge into one, that would be a huge score!
