As an expat, I took my paperwork to the US Consulate this week, and they said they will have my new passport back in about 5 days.

I still have a year on my existing passport, but it has two sets of extra pages and everything is almost full. Even though their guidelines only ''recommend'' no more than two sets of extra pages the Consulate here interprets that as an absolute prohibition of any more sets.
