I'll be attending a week-long conference at Atlantis in the Bahamas/Nassau at the end of this month, and will have one day to myself at the end of the week. I'm wondering how to best spend this day, and thought I'd call on the help of my friendly (and more experienced) fellow FlyerTalkers for their suggestions.

My own idea was to hire a car for the day and simply drive around the island and see the whatever there is to see/learn about. My flight leaves at 2205 that night, so I'm not sure if there's enough time to do anything more adventurous.

Any recommendations? I'm not really a huge fan of resorts, and will have had a week in the resort by this point anyway so am keen to explore the rest of the island.

Any tips for car hire/sights/restaurants/activites will be gratefully received!
