and the redemption isnt nearly as good. I can use the marriotts points to get a ticket but getting a 300$ ticket costs about 50000 marriotts points, instead of 25000 sapphire preferred points. 70000 marriotts points isnt that great.
Unfortunately you are very limited with hotel points as they have horrible transfer ratios to airline programs. The only exception is SPG from Amex, you get 1.25 to airlines and they have the cash & points option.
