However the taxes, etc can be either $279 (all BA), $32 (AA/BA) or $5 (all AA via MIA). Some people would also pay good money to avoid a transfer in LHR. The direct flight MIA-CDG also gets you into Paris at a very sensible 9am.
Each to their own on sensible times
... I class overnight flights as anything other than sensible
JFk-CDG non-stop would be a nice cheap 25,000 points which is the best priced option though unfortunately overnight, but given the lower points cost , can see why would be desired

The points tables are at
http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/...s/pointsTables ; can calculate any routing options from the tables plus
http://gc.kls2.com/ is good for getting mileages ( though can be out be a cpl against QF's calcs ).
Using AA ,check the Qantas Classic Award table
http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/...tsTables#jump0 and for other carriers across atlantic use the partner Classic award table
http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/...tsTables#jump2
There is no transatlantic flight on oneworld (afaik) from Washington
