I noticed the same last time I flew KL in the #25 lounge. The KLM lady was able to reprint my BP, though that was not quite what I wanted. She didn't comment on the robot nor working properly. Perhaps it had to do with it being an invol reroute itin.
The not being able to change seat online I have seen a couple of times, but mostly when codeshares or other airlines were involved.
I would not check-out for this purpose though. Chances of getting a good seat are slim. Unless you somehow know the seat map I would keep the seat first chosen during initial olci.
