AC is mostly fine to us with status. No real complaint there. Concierges are nice, upgrades work most of the time.

OTOH, AC is stuck with Aeroplan, which is just a scam. True that AC tries their best to control the damage. But it's not like they can go all that far. For one thing they have some contractuall arrangement. More importantly though, the deal with Aeroplan is likely highly beneficial in that it provides a pretty good mechanism for AC to sell otherwise left over for good money. So, in a way, for AC, Aeroscam as a revenue center has become more important than FF program/benefits. Sweet situation to be in, except, leaves no real room for a true FF program. But then. aren't we mostly captive cusotmers anymay? No real cometition to AC for FFs in this country, is there?

Only way this will improve, I am afraid, would be if somehow Aeroscam shoud go belly up. No, I don't really expect this to happen. Still, if enough of us (or rather, lower or no real status folks) cancel their Amex or CIBC cards, who knows.
