However, you didn't mention what the operating airline is (if it's a codeshare, for example) and when you're flying. Notably, I believe RDM's for United flights will increase to 175% on March 3. Thus you could get 200% total RDM's if you're flying United metal on a United ticket as a Premier/Silver member after March 3.
One flight is ANA, the other is UA, both of which earn 125% RDM for C fares, and are eligible for bonus miles.
Anyone think it's worth it to upgrade to first class for 30K miles? The plane I'm on for the trip back to the US already has lie-flat seats (it's a UA 744). Does first class really matter at that point? The only thing I would think may matter is that you have an entire seat to yourself...you don't have a "neighbor". But then again, I'm flying with a coworker who I don't mind being around.
