Yup. 10% agree. Keep it simple and call it a penny a point. You can do better and you can do worse but on average a penny is a very reasonable guess.

Plus, as stated above you can't compared to other hotels. The points earned are totally different.

To take it a step further you could get a Starwood credit card, for example, and earn a point per dollar. You can get into better hotel rooms with less points than with Marriott but you don't get the 15 elite nights or cat 5 cert. It's thus totally apples and oranges.
