If this airport had been anywhere else in the U.S. but Washington, it would already be shut down due to noise and national security (no jet could scramble fast enough to intercept an approaching/departing airlines veering off for the White House or a number of other national security targets). They even closed Meigs, even though all flights there were small and there's nothing like the White House in the vicinity.
