Thanks both, but yes, that does rule out the 2-4-1 which is what we'd prefer to do.

To clarify, option 1 will be me calling BA to check if there are any flights available to Sydney.

Option 2, if there aren't, is trying to find out if BA do any indirect routes to anywhere in Australia as all the searches that I do bring up partner airlines. That way I can still use 2-4-1

Option 3, if none of those options are available, is the find out the best use of miles to get to anywhere in Australia being completely flexible on times. E.g. I've heard that CP charges less tax, so would it better to use miles on one of those flights?
