what you are booking is a destination and a stopover. That is legal -- no need to make an OJ.
However be careful and do not make this a RTW (round the world ticket) -- don't return by the Pacific. If you do, it will get more expensive but give you more stopovers.


To clairify the merging of miles, if the UA/CO miles are in accounts with the same name it is free. If the accounts are in different names there is a fee. Was not clear which you were asking about.
