Hmm I don't recall lifts being an issue in T1, I know that you need to take a lift to the *A Arrivals Lounge in T1 but I don't recall doing this for BA arrivals, that said it has been a while.

However IIRC there are more lifts at T1 (5?) which seem to take less time to arrive.

Even if a lift was involved at T1 surely this meant only taking a lift one way as you could then pick up your ride/returned valet parked car at Departures level?
